Is Osmo Still in Business?
Last updated: October 2026.
Yes — and here's the good news: Osmo is being brought back to life by the people who built it in the first place. We're a small, self-funded team of former Osmo employees. We bought the brand out of bankruptcy because we couldn't stand to watch it disappear, and we've been putting it back together ever since.
What happened
Osmo was acquired by BYJU'S in 2019. BYJU'S collapsed, and in 2024 Osmo went down with it — apps stopped working, support went silent, and families and schools were left holding kits with no one to call. That period was genuinely rough, and the reviews from it say so.
Here's the part that still gets us, though: so many of you stayed anyway. Classrooms kept using Osmo. Parents kept emailing to ask when we'd be back. That's the whole reason there's a company here to write this — and it's why we're not going to waste the second chance.
Who's bringing it back
In late 2025, a small group of us — the same people who designed and built these products the first time around — acquired the brand out of the bankruptcy. We're parents. We know what these games can do for a kid, because we watched it happen for years. We're largely self-funded, which means we're small, we move deliberately, and we'd rather under-promise and then actually deliver.
What we're doing right now
- The store is open and shipping. Free shipping on US orders over $30, 30 days to return anything, and we cover the return label.
- The apps are back on iPad and Fire tablets. Since July we've shipped three rounds of updates to the App Store and the Amazon Appstore, covering Genius (Tangram, Words, Numbers, Masterpiece, Newton, Lettertopia, MathBuzz), Little Genius, Creative (Monster), Coding (Awbie, Duo, Jam), Pizza Co., Detective Agency and Osmo World — with better device support, crash fixes and stability work in each round. Tens of thousands of kids are playing every month. Next on our list: the Math Wizard games.
- More devices work with Osmo. Our games now run on a wider range of iPads — from iPad 5th gen up to the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air M3 — and on Amazon Fire tablets from the Fire 7 (2019) to the Fire Max 11. Not sure about yours? Check it in 10 seconds.
- A rebuilt store. We redesigned playosmo.com from the ground up: a simpler starter-kit page, Fire versions of our most popular kits, clearer device labels in the cart, and a Get the Apps page that sends you straight to every app your kit needs.
- Support is a real human. Write to support@playosmo.com and someone on our team reads it and answers.
- A few games can't come back. Some titles were built on licenses we no longer hold, so they won't return. We'd rather tell you that up front than let you find out later.
Where this is going
We're rebuilding in public, piece by piece, because we think Osmo is worth it: real pieces in real hands, and screen time that actually earns its place. Every order helps fund the next app we bring back — and if something isn't working for you, tell us. These days there's someone here to fix it.
Will the games work on my tablet?
Osmo games support iPads running iPadOS 15 or newer and Amazon Fire tablets running Fire OS 7 or newer — for most families, the tablet already at home works. Use our compatibility checker to confirm your model and the reflector it needs.
Where can I buy genuine Osmo products?
Right here — playosmo.com is the official Osmo store. Buying direct means new, genuine hardware, current packaging, our 30-day return policy, and it goes straight into bringing more of Osmo back.
