We Hitched a Run on An Autonomous Airplane to Bring Osmos to the Hard-Hit Region of Navajo Nation!

October 16, 2020 / Company News

COVID-19 has created a dire situation for the Navajo Nation, the largest American Indian reservation in the United States. Due to the additional burdens of food, water, healthcare, and infrastructure inequity, the Nation has seen more COVID-19 deaths per capita than any U.S. state.

In response to this crisis, Osmo teamed up with Protect Native Elders, GetUsPPE.org, and USA Envision Us to supply the Navajo Nation with the resources they need. Using tech-enabled fully autonomous air cargo delivery provided by Xwing, the companies brought hundreds of pounds of hospital grade-PPE masks and gowns, school supplies, educational tablets for kids to the Nation.

Osmo’s donation of 50 Osmo devices and Amazon Fire Tablets will improve the learning experience for kindergarten to fourth-grade students who are adjusting to socially-distanced school. As a result of this donation, schools and community hubs including Rocky Ridge Market, STAR (Service To All Relations) School, and IndigeHub will now have easy access to Osmo’s advanced technology.

“This pandemic has brought into focus the huge digital divide that the Navajo communities we serve are facing,” STAR School CEO Mark Sorenson said. “Our resource teachers are excited about this gift because the hands-on approach of this software, they believe, will be especially helpful in serving our special education students remotely.”
